Excessive Corrosion or OK?
Looking at buying this 04 plate 90, this would be my first defender and unfortunately I don't know anyone to take to a along to get an opinion from so I've been to have a look taken some snaps hopefully you can advise me better.

Doors and bulkhead look really clean. In a moment of utter stupidity I forgot to take any of the engine bay which wasnt the smartest.

this is chap in question

Thoughts, if nothing looks to bad planing on looking at it again/ taking a test drive on monday, anything in particular i should look out for?

Cheers.

Usual rot for 12 years old. I am always wary of vehicles with S plates due to road salt in Scotland.

Check inside vehicle where the screen is bolted to bulkhead- the cracked screen rubber will be letting water in and the bulkhead rots out here.

10k is top money for a slightly rotten 12 yr old basic hardtop with a load of bolt on bits tho!

It seems a great deal of money to me, despite the bolt-ons. No mention of any service history either.
If only for reference purposes I would look at several more just so you have something to compare against.
When you look at them makes some notes. Lift the floor mats and check where the steel bulkhead meets the floor plates. Look at the windscreen hinge areas on the bulkhead in the top corners. Look carefully at the rear cross member too. Make an estimate of how much of the chassis still has paint on it.
90 Hard tops are relatively plentiful too so there should be lots around, and most importantly, don't be swayed by the bling.

Thanks chaps, going to have look at some others.

Anyway to tell what sort of state an engine beyond it starts first time from cold and pulls ok though all gears?

Looks like it has not been cherished and used as a working truck (which is what they were intended for) but if it has had a hard life then take this into some of your deliberations. Jeff
