I had the pleasure of a half-day in a Tdci 110 last week at LREx Chilterns. Very impressed with it off-road, good low gearing and the automatic 1000rpm in low 1 and 2 was handy. Standard vehicle on I think MTR tyres. It was XS spec as well. Had a little clutch clunk but fine otherwise.

I was offered a half day for free, you can pay for a full day, which is more involved and you get to push the vehicle just a little bit further. The one I got is for prospective buyers, I asked for a brouchure, got a letter offering the half day. I enjoyed it and it shows how capable the machine is. There was only one Defender there, everyone else was in Discos and Freelanders... 2011 110 USW

Did the LR Experience at Eastnor a couple of weeks ago.
A full day experience (was a birthday present from my wife). Wife and 4 year old came along, since they have a soft spot for Eastnor Castle anyway (got married there - Obviously bitter-sweet memories for me, then).... Anyway, I digress. Bear in mind that my wife was the one (see previous threads) who was so against my Defender that she gave me one of those 'me or the car' type ultimatums. Then the snow came, and after three weeks of it here, it's fair to say she was warming to it! Now, after a fantastic day, going down what seemed like sheer drops into muddy water, steep climbs, and lots and lots of mud, all in a 110 (naturally! Incidentally the only vehicle that didn't get stuck that day!), my wife's first comment, as we were driving back from Eastnor was... "I think I'd like to get a Defender too - Maybe a 90?" Plus, she wants to book for the advanced day! Result!! Highly recommend the day, and Eastnor is a great venue to do it. Lots of Defenders to do it in too! I learned soem useful lessons too. 2010 110 XS USW (the slow one) 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ (the fast one) 2005 Ducati ST3 1954 Sunbeam S8 |

Zagato - I think it was just a loud engine! Or the way the camera picks up sound...
The Eastnor site would be good, will have to try get the Mrs to buy me a birthday present. I'm lucky in that she likes the Defenders too, she already has an 88, maybe one day she will get a 90 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

They are very capable. A friend bought a new Freelander last year and didn't fancy the free half day so gave me the voucher and I took the other half.
I also went to the Puma launch in 2007 which was a full day - 2.5 hours off-road in convoy before lunch and 1.5 hours on road in the afternoon. That was my first real drive in a Puma as mine was on order and the demo models hadn't arrived at the dealer. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |
