We will try to fit them on 16x7" or if that would not be possible 16x8".
My Defender has a 2" lift kit. |

315s on a 7" rim.....no chance and any tyre fitter willing to try doesn't know much about tyres.
I am running 305x70x16 on 8" Mach 5s, no lift or bumps top adjustment and no fouling. I went from Coopers to BFG KM2s and found the noise reduction significant comparing the two variations. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I'm no tyre expert, but the taller the sidewall the smaller is the influence of the rim width. Also, this topic's sensibility seems to vary from region to region. The guys in the US seem to be a lot more relaxed about this things with (at least reported) no serious problems.
But yes, a 8J wide rim would be the more conventional approach. Anyway, are you reinforcing the transmission? |

Tyres are performing better than the BFG MT MK2! Where the people with BFG MT MK2 got stuck, I wasn't

The rims are Performance aluminium TX-1. Size 16 x 7.
They are not made any longer. I've bought them second hand. What I can find on the internet, the offset should be 7 mm. ( http://landreiziger.nl/tag/outback-tx1/ ) |

I ha e these on both my landrover and trailer and they are brilliant, all be it in a smaller size!!! Very well mannered on road and pretty good off!! Self clean well as well. On the trailer they do drag more than the old all terrains but not that noticeable.

Do the 315 75s actually measure 35 inches or do they come in a bit small like the BFGs?

Just fitted a set of 265/75/16s. Thus far very happy, but haven't had time yet to thorough test them offroad. Heard only good things so hoping for the best.

Hi Guytn
Would you mind to measure the height of the tyres without the weight of the Defender? Thanks |

Had mine now for 2 months and very pleased. Size is 285/75r16 on Single Side Beadlocks giving an 8.5" rim. Truck is heavier than usual due to extras and equipment.
Grip Off-Road i.e. in the fields(grass, mud, sand, etc..) far superior to the BFG's. I have quite a steep bank between two fields that requires turning 90' through a gate and climbing straight away so cannot try a run up and use momentum. The BFG's always struggled when wet and would get clogged up and stop half way up which meant the use of a big 4wd tractor to pull the rest of the way and even that would struggle sometimes. Since putting the STT Pros on I haven't had any problem. Noise level is slightly greater than the MT2's, but the tone is different. More of a drumming sound(like you were in the boot of a car on the highway). Roadwise, no different so far, but then I haven't worn them enough to start throwing it round the corners. Comparison is made to the last 100,000miles done on 265/75 16 BFG Mud-Terrain KM2's. All-in-all, I would say they are better than the BFG Mud's and soooo much better than the old STT's Not the best photo as the sun was going down. ![]() Click image to enlarge Last edited by smb on 12th May 2017 12:27pm.
