My Disco 4 was a good vehicle and will feel luxurious after living with Series/Defenders for as long as you have. Furthermore, you won't miss any of the utility element of your current 110.
Other options would be a previous shape RR or a G-Wagon; although the post 2011 (when Merc UK started to officially import them again) are holding their value well, so price point would be higher than a similar aged Disco. |

Having jus moved to Jeep in the form of a cherokee sport i would be suggesting you have a proper look at them . Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

sacrilege...
Optimists say the glass is half full.. Pessimists say the glass is half empty.. Engineers say the glass is twice the size it needs to be! |

I also would suggest a Disco 4 as AM94.
Drives well, powerful engine, 8 speed auto, air suspension, smooth ride, big load space if needed. deleted, double post. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

My suggestion would be to consider a Freelander 2 as well. If you want comfy, simple, economical and reliable, and don't need to tow 3.5 tons then it would fit the bill nicely.
Obviously not as capable as a Defender off road but with the right underbody protection can be made pretty good. I've had mine for nearly 3 years and have been very impressed. I think by stepping into D3/4 territory you're adding a whole new world of complexity and expense, and they don't seem to have such brilliant reliability or durability. Freelander 2's are easily dismissed by "real" Land Rover owners, but I rate them highly. |

Or if you're going down that route consider a Subaru. I do rather like the Freelander but I'd prefer a Subaru.
Definitely have either over a Disco Sport though. |

I sat in a Jeep Wrangler at the Game Fair a few weeks ago and I was very pleasantly surprised by it. It certainly feels very familiar to a Defender driver. The cabin feels like what a Defender should or could be - still tough and rugged but with a certain level of comfort and refinement.
I think Jeep have certainly pulled out the stops to attract Defender drivers over to them as there is no option ofbuying a new Defender anymore. I didn't drive it so I cant comment on how they actually perform, but if I was looking to replace the Defender then I certainly would be adding it to the list to test drive. |

An acquired taste for some but as said by others they are still current and are an option

That's exactly what I thought when I needed to trade my Audi A4 Quattro in for something more rugged. Sadly it was not a success and the 2009, one owner, FSSH Diesel Outback I bought seized its engine solid and after an unsuccessful repair (another seizure), legal action and much wallet ache, had to be scrapped. It was a far cry from the petrol engine 1997 one I had previously, which felt utterly bulletproof. Beware Subaru diesels. I then did what I should have done from the start and bought the Freelander 2. |

I had a Subaru Forester with the 2.5L Turbo petrol engine, which was reliable; however, there has been a lot of issues documented with the 2.5L engine.
As per Thon's comment, the modern petrol and diesel Subaru engines are a far cry from the nearly indestructible 2.0 from the previous generation. |

I had a Disco 3 for about 6 years and it was a great car, good family bus, workhorse, removal van, etc. and good off-road. I had a few few faults with it but it never actually stopped me from getting to my destination, apart from once when 4 of the 6 injectors cocked up because of contaminated fuel, can't really blame LR for that though.
I guess it rather depends on what you really want from another car ? On downsizing I went for a Freelander 2 as a daily driver and I've not been disappointed, it's cheaper to run, tax and insure, and a lot more comfy, plus it has the LR "familiarity" to it, works for me Having said that, I've still got my Defender as a workhorse/tow car and it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it |

If you want to stay with a LR product then a Disco 3 or 4 if you need the towing and room capability if not a FL2 should fit the bill. I bought a Skoda Yeti with 4WD and for every day its great however I still have the PUMA 90SW as a weekend toy and for towing stuff.
