I spent 6 weeks living in Knook camp in the early 90's. I was an instructor on the PDT for Bosnia. Spent 6 LOOOONG weeks instructing propping and shoring of buildings to prevent collapse, working in CHD village.
Best week was teaching a Coy strength group of French Engrs. First couple of days, I taught, the terp translated, they built. After that, I stood around watching and the terp taught my lesson for me.
Only downside was going back to Knook every night. Nice pub down the road though. 110 D250 SE HT

Sounds familiar. Was an instructor on a pre-Kosovo camp and a pre-Afghanistan/Iraq camp, (can't remember which, but I remember my sergeants wearing kaftans and dishdashas) plus some Bde ops war gaming exercise at Warminster. I was based in Windsor and lived in Richmond, so could get home in less time than it took Mrs Grenadier back from the City (albeit somewhat illegally... ). Have vivid memories of baking hot drying rooms. Maybe they should have held the Telic train in there? Monsieur Le Grenadier
I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....
