Would it work?

Random thought, not sure if it would work or even look nice.

However, would door handles of a RR or Disco. (Pull to open not button like the Def as standard.) fit a Defender?

I know it very much depends on dimensions but anyone think it would work?

It's not something I'm contemplating but I just wondered if it would work or not.

As with the Defender the mech obviously has an inward motion and the RR or Disco handles have an outward motion im guessing it would be more trouble than it's worth hence why no one has gave it a go.

Asked and answered I think!

I looked briefly into retrofitting Disco2 deadlocking door locks into my Defender and came to the conclusion that it was far too difficult, requiring much chopping and changing to the door and strikers.

I think you are right, one of those things you could only go one way with.
Once you start you couldn't go back and could end up with a heap of issues.

Suppose it's due to the Defender harking back to its past and why it's often different to modern similarities.

Could always try and fit a set of doors from a Santana PS-10... if you can find some?

No idea if the latches are compatible or whether they could be made so, but the door aperture/shape is I believe the same or at least very similar.
