Customised my centre cubby box
Since I fitted seat risers my centre cubby was a bit too low to lean on, plus the vinyl was looking a bit tired so decided to spruce it up a bit. No way I could afford some of the fancy custom made ones available to buy.

The Wife does a bit of amateur furniture restoration so she redid the top with a thick layer of foam covered with leather and mesh fabric to match the XS seats a bit better.

For no good reason really, other than I thought it looked quite cool, I replaced the fabric check strap with a little gas strut off eBay. I'm pretty pleased with it for about £15 in materials plus a few hours time.

Looks excellent and the gas strut addition is ace. I think with the price of the some companies charge for these you have a whole new business ready to start Wink Fixing Land Rovers for over 25 years..........and making excuses to the wife for almost as long Smile

Cheap as chips off EBay. They are for opening kitchen cupboard doors. That one was less than £3, you can get various lengths and strengths.

Haha, I'm happy with it but don't think my Wife would be too impressed if I told her we were going into mass production! Maybe if I said half the proceeds could be spent on shoes!

If you wanted to trim the inside there is some nice carpet you can buy in small square sizes on eBay for about £6.
Nice plush stuff in black usually from car audio stores on there.

Use some SS staples and or spray glue and you could have a nice finish inside too. Thumbs Up

EDITED FOR CORRRECTION.

That looks great. I've been thinking about doing something like that - may just give me the motivation.

Back in the car now, very pleased with the Mrs' handy work. If you are contemplating giving it a go, we couldn't have done it as well without my Wife's knowledge of sewing and upholstery. So if you don't know yourself, have someone on standbye who knows one end of a sewing machine from the other.

That looks really smart, I've been toying with ordering a new padded lid for mine but may well give it a go my self now.
