man trap / bear trap
Finishing off a shower room for a customer today, clearing our stuff from the front of the garage and he showed me a collection of three man traps, two were smaller with very heavy flat crushing jaws, the other was the toothed type, about 48" long, all of them would shred a leg between ankle and knee - they are no gin traps!

Apparently when the farm was sold off 25 years ago, the auctioneer didn't want anything to do with them!

I told him that I thought they were probably illegal to possess, let alone try to sell.

If anyone knows I'll pass the info on.

He does have a pair of plain ish very large fire dogs and cross bar open to offers though.

Well a quick online search for man/bear/gin traps shows that it is illegal to set them. Now different laws date back to 19th century about man traps especially connected to firearms and they were banned in mid 20th century.

However it is not illegal to own, sell, trade such traps. Some interesting sites explaining different designs, offering them for sale etc.

Now I am sure there are a few of us who would not mind setting a few around our Defenders.
