Front bumper removal
Hi all
Simple question , is the front bumper removable by simply undoing and removing 4x bolts? Are they threaded into the chassis or are there nuts etc undernieth ?

Yes just the four bolts, but the nuts are not captive or welded into the chassis but rather slide into little groves within the chassis and are held in place with spring clip fasteners . For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Did you manage?

I removed my winch bumper to fit recovery points and was only able to get half of them back into place Evil or Very Mad

Still haven't had a chance to have another attempt at it Embarassed My confidence has been writing cheques that my abilities can't cash for years.

You say that is the easiest part to remove but it still took 40 mins to get the old bolts out...

When I bought my Defender the 4 bolts were simply dropped into their holes and not screwed into anything!

They've now got nylocs on them, it is possible though fiddly to use normal nuts instead of the nut plates.

No bolt on a Defender is ever easy!! Try removing the rear seats from a pre Puma SW....if you're lucky, they'll snap on the first turn. Evil or Very Mad

Getting the bolts back into the plates can be the hardest part. Fiddly lining up the holes. Big Cry
