Wind the 'wheel' to open the sunroof as much as possible, then pinch the catch to release it and lift the glass out.
Should be shown in the owners manual. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Must admit thats what I assumed from previous vehicles but nothing seems to want to budge, is it simply stuck or is this version different in some way (see pic below) obviously I don't want to brake it as no sunroof glass is worse than a slightly leaky one

You just need to push the two blocks (one shown behind the wheel) in towards each other and it will lift out. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

As I said above, there is no movement at all from the blocks mentioned, so I did what any sensible person would have done in the first place and...... resorted to reading the handbook.
So in case anyone else has the same sunroof, what you do is wind up sunroof as far as it goes, then facing down into the car you will see a small sliver catch exposed (shown on left of image below, looks like a birds beak), press this up to release the opening bracket and lift out sunroof - simples Click image to enlarge |

Well, guess what... removed rubber seal as sunroof would occasionally dribble in water, had tried the Vaseline trick but that did not seem to improve things so took out seal, put some padding in the form of some 5mm cable in then put rubber seal back in. Had read this sometimes works, well my slight occasional drop has increased to the kind of flow a shower manufacturer would be pleased with. Passenger seat is socked as indeed is my head....arhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Pssssssssst - take out the cable
Get shot of the Vaseline and try a smear of silicone grease. IIRC the sunroof is pretty much the same as the one or two I had in my TD5 & 300Tdi's. They don't have go with a bang if they get hit by a stone while you are doing 70 Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Cable removed, gutter cleaned, rubber seal cleaned and replaced then lubricated with some silicon grease - no improvement, as bad if not worse than when I started

Way ahead of you Mike, just did exactly that, leaving it all to settle down overnight before testing (there's only so many a failures man can take in one weekend) - is it wine-oclock yet?

Just q quick follow up out of courtesy, as suggested above I removed the seal, cleaned everything (even washed glass in sink to ensure it was literally squeaky clean) put it all back and..... it worked. Three rainy days later and its still watertight.
Needless to say no sooner was that fixed then something else want wrong, but I post that separately ...sigh |

My sunroof got hit by a rock and shattered into small pieces. Luckily I had window tint on the inside of it so it stayed in place held by that film long enough for me to tape it up.
I have had the car 6 years and never realised you can remove the sunroof. Some of the links above to images are broken so here is a link to show the clip that holds in the glass. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ulx1nmud7xris1o/...e.jpg?dl=0 The replacement part no. is AWR3323 which is now LR045874. |
