If they can make special edition Range Rovers for country folk who go shooting (and also have wayyyy too much money - The Holland and Holland special edition or whatever its called) surely they could do something decent with the WORKING vehicle of the range!
How many more combinations of vile roof and body colour can they get?! And I wish they'd stop putting that SVX grille on everything too! Is it just me or does it make the SVX less special? |

Several dogs and lots more in years past but all of the one that are supposed to have intact tails have managed to keep them, I make a point of standing next to the door while the dogs jump in and out. I've done the same with the Jap stuff with sideways opening doors I've owned too. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

TBH it's only a minor moan - makes sticking my MTB in the back awkward though as I have to lift the bike and keep the door open at the same time unless I'm on a totally flat surface. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

I own several Land Rovers, including a highly modified V8 90, and have owned many others over the years and in my experience the new Defender doesn't need a locking diff. The super low gearing and TC make it pretty unstoppable - especially when fitted with decent tyres. |

Did I mention I owned a D3 with the active diff option and the 110 beats it hands down?

Unfortunately a lot of the recent 'special or limited editions' are little more than paint and bolt ons.
This one - the new X Tech is only available here as a 90 HT anyway. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Hey - i think you miss my point i didnt say it needs it Although i will say my v8 90 was better than its rivals - just because of the v8's power...anyway Ive got and had loads of land rovers (not a 130 or 101 though) and the defender is superb. My point was as options go, you can buy a locking diff for a RRS or D3/4 but not for a defender - where i know a number of people have them fitted. Personally there are times a lock diff is better than TC and if it was an option i would have bought it...but as it wasnt an option - i cant say i mind as the 90 is superb Mike |

Surely the problem is that LR just doesnt give a toss about the defender? The vehicle that made their name has been left on the shelf, basically. But from a commercial point of view, if they can sell 30 odd thousands discos into north america as a first go, theyre not really going to give two hoots about selling a couple of hundred specced up overland vehicles, despite the good PR they'd get.
