Clean both matting surfaces with benzene, it must be free from any oiliness.
Apply a good quality rtv sealant, I prefer loctite, on both surfaces. Use studs to guide the sump, to prevent smudging. Tighten progressively , but don't over tighten. |

Maybe I am a bit old school, I was in two minds either use hylomar blue and cork gasket or Permatex ultra black or order up a rubber TVR rubber gasket. I realise there's no actual pressure involved however I have ordered the SD1 rear oil pan brace too bridge the wide rear oil pan holes where leaks seem too originate

When I think about it the original sealant used by land rover was present on removal! It had lasted over twenty years....hydrosil!!!
