As HOG says, a common problem on D40 Navaras, as was the disintegrating engine problem on the D22 Navara before it. Not all Jap vehicles are good.

We used to have one, very luxurious inside and quite powerful. That was pretty much the plus points.
Off road, rubbish, 4x4 system useless and the biggest issue ground clearance and now this as well. If I had to pick any pickup it would be a Hilux if Jap, don't like the look of the Mitsu pickups. Like the Yank trucks, but running costs too large and parts aviabkeity problems etc. Need enough fuel for a 90 much less anything bigger engined. ![]() |

Hilux is huge in Aussie & has been for ages, but the new 3.2L Ford Ranger is giving it some serious competition of late.

Spoted 2 duel cabs in Birdsville with suspected bent chassis.
During the current touring season across the Simpson there is 1 a week being repaired/recovered for the same reason. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=bent+ch...nt+chassis Cheers, Kyle. |

I just bought a new auto 3.2 Ranger and picked it up two days ago. ![]() Click image to enlarge I considered all the alternatives and went for the Ford as the spread of their dealer network far outstrips all the other makes - plus I was able to get a very substantial discount too. I've had Mitsi & Isuzu and Nissan in the past but encountered several issues with parts supply and cost. That, and the fact that I can still picture the face of my long departed uncle who had a gruesome time as a guest of the Japs still makes me feel slightly guilty when I spend money on products from that country. Can't see the problem you just need something good and long on the roof rack and strap it goodo at both ends, that'll hold her together Oh woe, oh woe
My crusty old landrover, It will not go. |

Unwind the winch cable, pass it back over the roof, attach it to the towbar, short circuit the connecter, job done… Chavs do it quite frequently!
