Even with the cage (mine has one) I don't think the Defender would be as safe due to the lack of air bags.
If your head it bouncing around against metal, it won't be good outcome. Cheers Simon |

But in a defender you wouldn't be able to go fast enough to skid Ray

^^Don't kid yourself Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Well I saw a puma upside down facing the wrong way on the A50 a few weeks back, flipped over by its trailer and then of was crushed, there's zero rollover protectionism a defender or older, it's all soft aluminium! 2016 D4 HSE

Glad you're all OK. Those little hippos are a tough little beast. I saw one involved in a nasty bump with a 7.5t MAN wagon once and the wagon came off far far worse than the FL2

we rolled a freelander 2 at work, at approx 20mph, it went 4 times over downhill aprox 50m distance over 30m vertical height change. All 3 climbed out with minor injuries. If it had been a defender i reckon i would of been the only survivor if i was quick and lucky Cheers
