I assume we have a little dig going on at apple here. Let me tell you - there couldn't be a bigger apple hater than me! Im on record...but their I-Pad is outstanding. Ive just bought my wife an I-phone...i still hate them, and i-pods (have a Sony personally), I-Tunes is horrible - its taken me 3 weeks to force it to work in a better way. But the I-Pad is truly brilliant Mike |

i-pad has no proper competition at least. So not in the same category as the i-musthaveitoriwilldie phone. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

small firm / sole trader - mac and iPhone. syncs everything, fabulous.
I can be out on a job and if my assistant books something in my calendar i ll see it on my phone pretty much immediately, and vice versa. she can upload specific images to the cloud (terrible term) back in the office and i can show a client on my phone or iPad in their office. for me its not to do with following or anything else, if there was a cheaper system which did all that i d use it in a flash, but apple has got it right in terms of what i use it for. I actually wish there was a slightly smaller iPad but there we are. I'm still looking for a decent mount for the ipad for the 90. the ram product is pretty robust but not exactly elegant or especially good value I think. |

I may know feck all about wiring up the Land Rover but we're straying dangerously into my territory here chaps. Amongst other stuff, we build some of the most prolific apps for iOS (iPad and iPhone) as well as Android, Microsoft and Blackberry. Technically, there are + and - to all of them. Physically (consumer product) the Apple kit is streets ahead of all the others. STRATEGICALLY, Apple is in a different league. Blackberry platform is an elegant but inevitable train wreck (although I admit it's great for text-only email). Android and Microsoft are in a stunning race to the bottom (lets see who can give away the most for free). The future of mobile will be governed by the application environment and Apple (who have just passed 10 billion downloads!) have created something that will take years to emulate. Nokia and Sony have recently tried to copy and both have pulled out. Yes I know - can of worms and all that. Every consumer has their pet favourite (usually the one they bought). However, if you were a large multinational corporation looking for strategic advice on where to invest £££ in emergent platforms, you'd hear pretty consistent advice from us and our peers. Apple I'm afraid to say is way ahead of the others. [ / ] One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Im a sony person for their phone/camera (should add TV) etc etc - i will be getting the new (phone) one when its out - it looks fantastic. Blackberry all the way for corporate environment push emails etc...and fortunately we still use that (Torch to replace my dieing storm in two weeks) Apple well - i still love the ipad...but i dont think ill convert further.
