FWIW brand new Britpart ( Crying or Very sad ) OEM flanges (the 'better' ones with the part number on the casting) and brand new Bearmach shafts show slop out of the box.

If they didn't I'd be an interference fit...

The slop (backlash) will be greatly amplified by a hub, let alone a wheel. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...
