Hi All,
I'm usually on BMW forums but have found myself on here through work! Hate to be one of those people that comes on and just asks for info but I'm in a bit of a pickle... Basically I manage the fleet at work and we have a 15 plate defender 110 xs station wagon that has had the spare wheel stole off the back! Not sure how they've managed to get it off without the locking wheelnut but hey ho, I wasn't driving it at the time so can't comment. Land Rover have quoted me £385.65 for a new wheel and tyre (also need to ask for prices for the nuts and locking wheel nut), but I've found this on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Defen...Swh-1W4H~Q Will this do the same job? Cheers Sam |

Ideally you need to source an identical wheel and tyre. Better to post a picture of your wheel.

I very much doubt a 15 plate would have a General Grabber as these were fitted as standard to earlier vehicles. If the wheel looks the same as the Ebay link then it's a Boost alloy which are standard XS fitment usually shod with Continental Cross Contact tyres. Steve.

If standard boost wheel on the original then yes will do - might just need to check tyre, Just get driver to text a picture to you to check
Landrover prices are Landrover locking wheel nuts are about as useful as a chocolate fire guard but not much else out there but a chain & padlock 2020 P300 HSE |

It really doesn't matter if it's an identical tyre, so long as the rolling radius is pretty similar. How many cars have space savers after all!
I would personally stick with the same tyre size as a spare, so 235/85R16 or 7.50R16 as standard but again as a spare I can't see it causing too much of a problem if you mixed a 265/755 with a 235/85 for instance for a little while. If the Defender has alloys then that will be fine. It's not a fantastic price but it's not a terrible price either. |

You would be surprised there are some very high milers on here! That said, at 17k in 6/7 months thats looking like a contender for top spot Well done though its good to see them actually being used! You will have to put a picture up too Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

I don't think 30k to 35k in a year is even close to top spot, though it is far more than many!

Yes it will fit. My point was that it more than likely won't be the same make and pattern as the rest of the tyres on the vehicle.

Thanks for the info everyone. Think there's a few on here pipping us on the mileage! I'll post some pics when I get chance, it's covered in our branding. I'm thinking I'm just going to buy one of the security covers for the spare wheel because for the locking wheel nuts you have to buy a set of 5, plus the two normal nuts which come to £145! Is there a specific one that people recommend?

Spare wheel security. The basic way is just a bicycle chain with a cover over so it doesn't look messy. More elegant solutions also exist: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic47089.html
