Has anyone done this? Thinking of ditching the clock for a rev counter.
Thanks Shaun |

Hi,
That's actually what I've been working on lately Click image to enlarge Still need to finish my installation, but it works great. With a bit of glue electronics it is really a simple install, and it costs a fraction of the original Td5 rev counter. Are there any 'similar looking' (cheaper) alternatives?
I'm not too bothered about a perfect match for the binnacle as I could mount it in my raptor dash..along with boost and another (when I get the time) ta TD5 Defender 90 Discovery 3 HSE |

I believe that there is another version of the 'genuine TD5 rev counter, just the same but without the matching dial face, will try to find a link.
EDIT: found them here but no prices: http://www.croytec.co.uk/all-products/vdo-...-counters/ Another EDIT: found the price list and the VDO standard version isn't much better at £188.... |

There are a couple of VDO rev gauges on the Bay at the moment. Ranging from £80-£120.

I may well be wrong, but I thought that they had to be calibrated specifically for a TD5? |

Normal VDO type rev counters don't work with the TD5 as it takes its reading from one of the ECU pins.
