291i.
However, me personally I had issues with it. Had better success with Soudal Silirub 2. |

Did you buy it online or do B&Q/Halfords/screwfix or something sell them? Cheers, David

Some sikaflex products do need suport while drying, 291i has a tack free time of 60 minutes but takes much longer to fully cure.
you could use SikaBond Ultimate Grab which is an intant grab adhesive For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

If you are gluing straight onto the paint he bond is only going to be as strong as the paint to frame. Steve.

On the whole the bracket is under no load at all, it's purely a support to prevent flex and movement.
Yes, it's only as strong as the paint bond but I won't be attempting to pull it off to see how much force it would take! Quite a bit I imagine. When I tried the Sikaflex I just didn't like its characteristics to be honest, it also has a certain amount of shrinkage and solvent aroma. None of which help, and nor is there full bond strength for days. With the Silirub 2 it's better to handle and quicker, and no solvent aroma either. I've used this Silirub 2 stuff time and time again for all sorts of stuff and found it to be great, it's a sealant not adhesive though but find it to have brilliant properties for both. My failiure with the Sikaflex could be due to wax on paint or similar but I can't see it seeing as I solvent prepped it well before doing the job for that very reason. |
