Hi. is emergency brake assist a new feature on 2015-2016MY defenders, owners manual explain is part of DSC. If so, it is just a software update?

Probably software yes:

as DSC appeared only in the last few months before Defender production ended.

My 2015 110 had EBA, basically if you brake hard and suddenly then it takes over braking and stops the vehicle as quickly as it can using all of its sensors to find maximum traction. Almost like launch control in reverse Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I am wondering if DSC can be retrofited to Pre 2015 models...

I found it particularly annoying. Super sensitive, even gentle corners on a rough surface would trigger it. When I had my 2015 model I wanted it removed lol 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

You'll find that something called "good driving" has much the same effect, and is a lot cheaper! Laughing
