Hi,
I'm debating going myself. But might have the parents motorhome instead of the landy, i'm looking very hard at the dates and our existing itinerary!!! Its in my interests of course as I'm scoping out parts and other projects for ideas Cheers Andy |

I've been looking at camping and was going to stay on the main billing site, been to the show before but never camped, where would I find details for the farm as billing does seem a bit busy for us?

I gave up on billing as a weekender years back.... too many problems with theft, rowdiness etc.
It's ok for a day visit, but Peterborough is a far better set up, Usually spend the weekend there Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

@Dave ... I have heard simular comments regarding theft / rowdiness and took it that something happened in the past that keeps getting mentioned, as bad things usually do. Is it really that bad, has anyone any personnel exsperience etc surely its not as bad as suggested....

I'll be there and taking the tin tent and camping in the park with an electric hook up!
I've not been before but have several friends who go regularly and they seem to think the issues with thefts are in the past and it's a good second to Peterborough. Looking forward to it. Jim |

Hi,
Me and Leanne are probably going to be there either Saturday or Sunday so @bosshog- you'll have to get the kettle on! My mother is having a hip replacement the week before and lives 30mins up the road so will be down that weekend anyway, but I need to be about for her so camping won't be on the agenda I'm afraid. If there are plenty of folk wanting to camp nearby somewhere peaceful without the worry of being at Billing itself there are a few other campsites nearby. If the 110 is off the naughty step we will probably have a run round the offroad course, and possibly go laning in south Leicestershire on the Sunday as there is a few hours worth of lanes round near my mums house. With regards the rowdiness, I last went in 2009 ish and worked on a stand in 2006 or 7 (a year with epically terrible weather)and it was pretty loud of a night. Bear in mind there is a 'fixed' fairground on site and and more than one bar. The year I was on a stand I slept on the stand in my tent in case of unwelcome visitors, and we moved the vehicle that was on the stand elsewhere overnight to a more secure location.

I stopped going years ago because of the thieving sods which used to go, I certainly wouldn't have left a vehicle unattended at that time. Of course security may be better these day but I'm not tempted to go back.

Sadly quite a bit of "pilfering" goes on at Billing A friend of mine used to do the auto jumble, and in the night he managed to loose a set of 5 brand new wheels and tyres! Plus plenty of other small items. He knew who took them, but staff at the show weren't interested in doing anything about it, like getting police involved. Quite sad really. It's always been that way, we don't bother going anymore, it seems to have dropped in standards in the last 3/4 years. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |
