You could use something like this http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/...mmobiliser

When you leave the vehicle unattended just unscrew and remove the main battery link and this leaves the smaller fused link attached to power the radio/alarm. If anyone tries to start the vehicle it would be too much for the smaller fuse which would just blow.

Thanks Scoobeenut

I had considered 'your' Isolator, and it is a option.

There is another thread currently (started by me) also exploring the Isolation Question...

http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic47344.html

I have installed security fasteners to both 'access panels' under passenger and drivers seats
so 'straight forward' access to these areas is now different, I looking to site an Isolation Switch
probably this one in a separate location to Isolate the Puma (but maintaining the Alarm / Security /
Door Locking functions)

DURITE Security Battery Isolator Switch
http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/prod...tor-switch
being rated at '100A @ 24V, 500A for 5 secs'

This switch should cope with the Starter Motor draw Amps although I don't know what value
this is on a Puma, It's likely to be high due to both engine size and that it's a diesel

Dose anyone know what the draw in Amps is for starting a TDCI Defender... Question

So I can go for the Starter Motor (probably) but maybe there is a smarter route... Question SKIP

Can you turn the key to both the on and off position and still be able to pull the key out ..i made the mistake of buying one from caterpillar and you had to leave the key in when switched on.......it will be just a little awkward to use as the key is sepeate from your ignition keys and you will have to remember to take it out!

Hi nitram17

Good question, and yes the key can be removed at both the ON and OFF positions,
180 degree sweep of the key between positions.

How did you wire yours? SKIP

Sorry x4 i have edited my previous post so it reads better now have not yet fitted the cut of switch i was going to fit it tomorrow ..i was going to simply put it in the seat box wall and disrupt the positive cable.. but now i think i will buy the floorsafe from matt and fitit under the passenger side floor and use armoured cable to connect the wires .......its just something different to slow them down...i was thinking of one of these also:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-12v-Fue...xyuCJRcQ0f

I wonder if anyone has experience of fitting one to a puma? pm's welcome if you dont want to post!

if you cut the fuel wouldn't it run dry, which is unwise on a Diesel?
