Along the bottom edges of the bars that sit in the roof channels, I used some of this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111805765154 Then I cut some pieces of an old bicycle inner tube to fit the clamps and protect the paint on the sides of the channel. Seems to work well! |

You could probably get away with something a bit narrower, perhaps like this:

The farmer in me would use some old tractor tyre inner tube But those Ebay strips look a lot neater! James

I went along to my local commercial tyre fitter got an inner tube, cut sections from it, works perfectly.
