Rust stains on transmission
I just had a quick look under my 2011 90 and noticed red dusty rust deposits on the gearbox approximately 3 inches behind the case that covers the adapter shaft.

I can't see any rust on the drain hole but presume metal dust is now coming out of this hole and I will soon lose drive and need to get a new adaptor shaft fitted.

I'll keep an eye on it but going on everyone else's issues I think it's going to be expensive.

I think your right in your reasoning.
Unfortunately not knowing how long it's going last is s guessing game. Cheers,
Kyle.

I hate to say it but what kind of car needs transmission parts replacing at 26K miles.

It is utterly ridiculous and how LR can claim to be a premium brand is beyond me.

It is certainly worth looking for this evidence of rusty metal dust as for the first 4 years there was no trace of it, I presume the wear rate has increased with extra movement in the spline as it has worn.
