Great campsite near us, perfect stop off before heading through the tunnel to Italy, highly recommended. Depending on time of year, could get you up the mountain for some off roading as well. Fab restaurants and bars locally, amazing views, tonnes to do. And then when you pop through the tunnel, I can tell you where to get your first pizza before the final four hours to the Lakes. Thumbs Up

As far as the NC500 being part of your trip to Europe, it'll be amazing, but a bit of a dog-leg, non? Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

Off Topic Hello LoveTheMud

The wheels are early versions of the Land Rover LRX Concept Wheels fitted to Range Rovers,
particularly now with a later version of this wheel on the the Evoque, they are also called the
'split spoke wheel' within Land Rover I think.

I like the style also, but would not buy them from scratch, (mad money) mine came as part of a
package of changes for a customer who gave up on the build spec' for this 90 before we stepped in.

Returned from my travels. Despite doing more than 1500 miles I didn't test the range out properly. I refilled around a quarter or just less each time, which equates to 350ish miles. That's mostly motorway 65 to 70mph.

British, LR made fuel gauge, can you trust it? Half a tank indicated could mean only a gallon in reality Rolling with laughter

I have always wondered about fuel gauges. Especially German brands given how many German cars we have owned, and wondering along the lines of national stereotypes, how precise they would be. So, with this in mind, what do with think that a German Fuel Gauge would mean when you're on Zero Miles Range?

a. We're German, we like things done precisely like the master engineers we are. No room for error, no margin for flexibility. You have Zero miles showing on your gauge, that means you have zero litres in your tank, you will stop soon. Don't call our bluff, you will be wrong and we will win again. Teutonic perfection at its best.

b. We are German, the great planners and engineers. We think of everything and design it to within the 'n'th degree. But we also know most non Germans are fallible, so we have pre planned and pre engineered a margin of error for these fools. As such, whilst the gauge indicates Zero we have a duty of care to our buyers to ensure there is enough in the tank to get you to the next station, fool that you are.

Well, which one is it? Do you take the 'driving on fumes' gamble with a German gauge or not? I've never been able to fathom which version a German engineer would choose. No doubt one would please him (or her) and allow him to go home and sleep well at night, whereas the other would have him (or her) in fits of apoplexy. Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

Any hints on how to solve poor fuel economy for a 2008 PUMA? Used to get 24MPG then got as low as 14MPG. Replaced fuel filter, MAF and recently the EGR crashed so it is new. Even with it went back up to 17. I have a ChipExpress and was getting 25 with it before the economy dropped, so now have disabled until I can resolve Banging Head
Any help appreciated from an expat "workin" in Saudi. DesertPuma

are those US gallons or is that with a lot of off road driving? If you're talking about US gallons then 25 is about right, I get 32 miles to the imperial gallon which is 27MPG (US). Otherwise that's well out.

Tyres, roof rack, other stuff?

2011 pickup
Hello iv also recently been getting lower milage used to get about 400+ but recently only getting 300ish i have been doing the same trip but obviously you have to take into account traffic conditions and the way i have driven but they have not varied greatly i don't think. Is there any obvious reasons this could happen?

I have also recently moved my spare wheel from the pickup back and hung it behind the tail gate so this could be causing a bit more drag but i would not have though this would have caused such a change in mpg.

Thanks

Moving the spare as you describe won't make the slightest difference to your fuel consumption.

Id say it could make a difference black wolf. The aero in a pickup bed is quite strange and easy to impact.

I'm afraid that I remain unconvinced! If Jamesjames999 was so inclined, it would be easy enough to carry out some experimentation though.

I really cannot believe however that simply moving the spare has caused a 25% increase in fuel consumption, unless he accidentally attached a drogue at the same time!

Not 25% no, but certainly significant. My roof rack with spare wheel strapped on add easily 15-20%
