Best anit-condensation solution under mattress?

I have just bought a trailer tent (to replace my 110 Dormobile) and on it's first outing suffered from damp mattresses in the morning bringing back memories of my howling moon roof tent (and reminding me of one of the reasons why I swapped it for the Dormobile in the first instance i.e. propping the mattress up each morning with cans of baked bean etc etc)

Having done a bit more research this time around, I believe there are various solutions (to avoid the cans scenario):

1) Use water proof covers (such as ikea's Gokart) to stop moisture penetrating the mattress in the 1st instance; and or
2) Use matting such as Drymat, Ventair or Airmat under the mattress (it seems the boating community use these a lot) - all of which are quite pricy (i.e. over £100 as I have two double beds to sort out).

I suppose my query is whether anybody can confirm if the water proof covers would eradicate the problem (without me having to get the matting) and/ or (if not) whether anybody has any views on which is the best matting and whether it does do what it claims to?

Also, whether anybody else has any other solution?

My mattress has a waterproof cover on, but still needed to be lifted to dry the condensation under the mattress.

I added the Dry Mat stuff and it works well, no condensation or mould.

Thermal dynamics and air flow. Using waterproof covers could make it worse and disturb your sleep.

You need airflow between the mattress and deck this allows air to draw moisture away. Thus the mating is the best idea but unfortunately also expensive. But that's life

I have an 'under mattress ventilation mat' under the mattress in my maggy. Never had any condensation issues at all

i have just fitted drymat under the mattress in my howling moon. i am away to the outer hebrides at the weekend. will let you know if it's worth the money. i did do a bit of research into this problem and this came out the best solution. we will see. 110 xs s/wagon
