Cheers Greeni!
I've been distracted by a new (to me) supercharged RR. "Only" the 4.2 litre engine, but blimey its very moreish to drive. How's your V8 project coming along? Last I looked you had the old engine out and everything lined up for summer FFRR Supercharged - Series One - Defender 90 V8 |

Nice! We just added a 3rd Defender to our 'fleet'!
My ACR built 4.6 is firmly in place, though still waiting for a few oil pipes, as well as I'm getting some custom fabrication on the headers!! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

HOW, I mean really, seriously, HOW, have I not seen this stuff before now... I have just read this lot cover to cover, twice!... This has turned out to be an absolutely astonishing build thread CY, serious kudos to you sir, and loadsa GEM stuff... Just one thing I either missed, or have stupidly overlooked though... How do the removable door tops come about in a 90 example like this... And I do love the rear door double hinge idea, awesomesauce... In fact, I absolutely love everything about this build matey, especially the Green bits... Rog... The GREEN One... Cheers! Its certainly not something that you can do at the traffic lights! Taking the canvas off completely takes probably about the same amount of time as just rolling up and securing all the side flaps - 5-10 mins. Feeding the front edge under the rail on the top of the windscreen is surprisingly easy though (if you're over 6 ft). Taking off the door tops requires tools and a little care if you want to avoid scratching or dinging thing - probably around 5-10 minutes per door if you're doing it carefully. The frame again needs tools, and is probably another 5-10 mins and, until I cut the one piece door seals, means they have to come off too (although its a fair bit longer to put this all together again because the door surrounds all need to be lined up properly and- to keep it waterproof - the dumdum putty re-applied in the gaps). That said, on a nice day its kind off therapeutic (a bit like stripping down and re-assembling a gun) and the fun once its off more than makes up for the effort. I haven't tried folding the windscreen down yet. Next thing on the list! FFRR Supercharged - Series One - Defender 90 V8 |

Thanks very much! It really is the best colour Series 3 two-piece doors actually fit the 90 / Defender, but require a bit of bodge work around the guide-rod thing that fixes to the bulkhead. So these doors are from sp4x4, who fabricate series style doors that fit straight onto the Defender body. It is still a bit of a pig to align the striker and handle properly (as Greeni will testify), but in summer I love driving with no doortops and loads more room!! Trying on shoes ....
I don't think 19" wheels suit at all, even with General Grabber tyres Click image to enlarge FFRR Supercharged - Series One - Defender 90 V8 |

Just been through this whole thread, must say I'm very impressed with the transformation and the standard of work your truck has gone to, it is stunning, not feeling the 19" wheels I'm afraid, have you considered some nice white steelies with chunky tyres?

Cheers Matt. I'm not feeling the wheels either. They're coming off again tomorrow ! Traditional might just be the way to go. FFRR Supercharged - Series One - Defender 90 V8 |
