A Defender is worth what a fool will pay for it.
I have been following the second hand market here for months now, you can buy all the new or very young Autobiography/Adventure/Heritage editions and other that you want. Most on this website have been there at often (very) high premiums over new price for several months now, but of all those virtually nothing has moved on. And during the last month, their asking prices in several cases have dropped by 10 to 20%, but they remain unchangedly on offer. Asking prices often move very erratic, meaning these spec sellers are getting impatient and sometimes desperate. I have seen a nice Aventure 110 with a big number of tasty expensive upgrades first being listed at CHF 97.500, then after a few weeks even increasing to 105.000, from there back to 95.000 without result, and now down to 85.000 already for weeks again..... Still there. I think the current asking price actually is becoming a discount if compared with the original dealer price plus the cost of the upgrades all added up. Eric http://www.autoscout24.ch/fr/voitures/land...rfrom=2015 You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw Last edited by ericvv on 24th May 2016 2:32am. I think it is just about exactly a year since the official cut off period for placing a factory order?
I ordered a week or two before the cut-off and there was already the situation that if you were prepared to wait a few months for delivery you could order a brand new factory build for less than the window sticker price of a 1year old second hand one sat in the dealer forecourt. |

I paid £36K for mine from Hunters, Derby and picked it up on that last Friday in January. 110 Utility XS with extra bits and bobs - was one of their demonstrators, six months old and had 5K on it when I bought it. I thought that was a 'fair' price. Trade in on the Dec2010 110 UXS with 70K was very good too.
I didn't realise that the rear carpet set was no longer a standard item on the UXS until I got it home otherwise I'd have removed the old ones before trading!! |

Mine…..late 2013 110 XS with 15500 on the clock with lots of extras (premium seats/sound/expedition roof rack/side rails/rear tow step/air con etc - all factory fitted) for £31k in March from main dealers (approved used).
I thought it was expensive…………..but it's made me very happy I see enough death and sadness in my job - my epiphany was that you only get one life - so buy the bloody Land Rover! |

So, the black 90 is advertised for 36,000 pounds, (driveaway?).....what would have been its original "driveaway" price?
Pickles. |

I think from memory list price on the road was £30,505?? 5-10% discount was still achievable early last year. (for Joe Public - not talking about multi buyers, fleets etc)
