Spotted this lovely black Defender 90 in the carpark of Waitrose in Southend early Saturday morning 28th May. Wanted to hang about to have a chat with the owner it but SWMBO wanted to get the shopping home

Totally agree Riverboy! He did park well away from other cars but you know what people are like they'll come park as close as they can even if there are 100 spaces free you always get one that'll want to park so close they have to bang their door in to yours to get out If I have to take mine to a public carpark I wont leave it SHMBO shops while I stay in it I've been know to take the Defender home before now and return in my van if I have to leave it or there isn't any spare space's with at least 100yards of no parking around it !! That is a lovely Defender I hope the owner is on the forum I want to know whare he got his light bar? ! 2010 Defender 90 HT The longer I live..... The better I was! |

Damned right, they don't give a s**t. In five years her mini had no door on door dents when in London, but in Cham, almost every time she parked in a side to side parking space she picked up more damage. She's very car proud and hated it. It is even more likely if you have a nice car. Just picked up her new TT yesterday, and my DC last week. Fearing the worst. I'll have a scooter in the back so we can scoot to the supermarket entrance from the most distant, empty space possible.... Wimmin, can be so bloody unreasonable sometimes. Meet one of their friends in the high street and stop for ten minutes to gas about who's done what to whom, but we can't do the same on the frankly unimaginably important subject of what we've done to our defenders.... Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

I won't be taking mine anywhere near town, well not to park anyway. The Peugeot is my shopping car.

Just need side steps. Anybody careless enough with their doors when parked next to mine do regret it when hitting my side steps. And those side steps seem stronger than the average door edge too. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

I do have side steps but I tested my Peugeot yesterday and the door would still hit the side panel

Yep! Side steps rule in car parks. Also the wheel arches help with the rear! For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Guess that is a problem more for a 90 than for a 110. A 90 is short, and can imagine that when parked side by side next to a 4 door Eurobox sedan, the latter's rear doors could still slam into the rear side panel. More unlikely with the longer 110 with its longer side steps. The rear doors of a 4 door Eurobox would either hit the side steps or the rear wheel area, but unlikely the rear side panel. It's height rather than length. Are your steps higher or wider?

No, they are the same. But we do not have Peugeots here. [img:866:650] You never actually own a Defender.
