Er that sounds like a hell of a lot of messing about over wood blocks (I use off cuts from 5-7" fence posts I had to shorten) and especially over just living underneath your Defender. Plenty of room underneath at normal height. I have done 100-200 like this no problem... Even with a beer belly Whistle

Just a reminder that bricks and concrete can crack/crumble, it's the reason wood chocks are widely used...

Lancer. The answer to your question is in your title - "makeshift". Please don't. I speak as one who has had vehicles fall off makeshift arrangements in the past (yes, more than one - some of us are slow learners).

advice is don't do it, so duly noted and will try with just axles stands and ramps. As long as I can increase access to the underneath can still jet wash/steam/paint etc and get the job done without slumming it on the floor!
