Fiat experts? Not starting & check engine light
56 plate Punto Active Sport 1.4
Hoping to get some other thoughts/suggestions on the fault below.

My sister asked me to swap the battery as it was hardstarting/sluggish so a new battery was fitted and all was good.

A couple of weeks ago I get a call, car is showing engine light. Plugged in my Bluetooth OBD reader and used the Torque app (full one) to read the fault.
P0115 - Powertrain - Engine Coolant Temp circuit.
So ordered a new one and replaced the sensor. Eventually cleared the fault using another App and took car for a test drive - all well, no CE light on.

Passed the car back - all ok for a few days.

Then I get a call, car wont start. Turns over but don't start. On the 3rd go, it started but when pressing the accelerator no power/revs not increasing.

Turn off, and back on and all well.

Happened again, so went to have a look. CE light on. Same fault. Car tries to start, almost does and then cuts out. Tried again, the same.

Checked spark plug and colour was a shade of grey. Put the lead back on and car started. CE light on and same error code. P0115

Noticed the coolant was on MIN so topped up.

I am thinking the fault is not the sensor but elsewhere. But where? 1999 Defender TD5 110
