Really good site it would take me to long to write why but should you visit you will know exactly why I say it is a good site

It is a great campsite. Lots of land rovers there. It has a great restaurant on the beach. It is almost the same as being abroad. Fabio |

Our favourite site is Eskdale Camping and Caravanning site in Eskdale, Cumbria. Beautiful site near to Scafell Pike and Stanley Ghylls waterfalls. Five minute walk to the Eskdale / Ravenglass steam railway. Three pubs within walking distance. What's really nice is there are no caravans on the site (approach road too narrow)

We've been to Hayfield and Eskdale and they're both great sites.
Of the two, my favourite would be Eskdale. Martyn Merkel who owns and runs it is a great bloke and there's so much to do in the area. We went in the camper in April. Ullapool:  Click image to enlarge 200m from a decent curry house. Right on the sea. 300m walk to decent pubs and shop. Toilet and shower facilities are basic - but the advantages are awesome 
Also Applecross... Next to the lovely Applecross Inn, and involves driving over the Bealach na Ba... And Glen Brittle on Skye.... Sit on the beach with a bottle of plonk and watch the sunset. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Thanks for the suggestions. I love the Lakes as a Cumbrian by birth but we holiday there at my folks place in Keswick.

Would highly recommend Mount Folly Farm at Bigbury
http://www.bigburyholidays.co.uk/ limited shelter if weather awful and facilities fairly basic but views to die for, great surf beach and direct access to south west coast path. We are there early August to swim round Burgh Island and down the River Avon |

We love it at Lanefoot farm in Keswick as its fairly close (with in 2 hours), We used to go to Castlrigg until our caravan was stolen and until we decide what to get we are enjoying camping and clamping?
We also like Blair Atholl near Pitlockery, but bit of of a journey. However also a tour of Cornwall we stayed at Trethevy,Tintagel amongst many but this was the best... Amazing views... Yes...but usually OK. Being by the sea, and onshore breeze, and trim grass keeps them at bay... They'll always be bad on a mild, damp, still night, but usually acceptable with a breeze, or direct sunlight... Plus they won't be at their worst for a few weeks yet... We really like Tiree, but not for camping. This happened to our tent last summer. !
