Ex used car dealer so can absolutely confirm that autotraders web company called Razor have this issue daily. I used to get fake emails like the bank ones, asking to confirm my log in details for an update or some other trick. What the scammers do is check you close on Sunday, then log in to your autotrader account Saturday after you are closed, this lets them access all your website and trade feeds (including eBay, gumtree, motors and autotrader and your own site) they amend the contact details to their mobile, close off the email and drop the prices.
Happened to me once, queue of people trying to buy 25k range rovers we had for 8k. |

What amazes me is the people who are suckered in to buy a 20k car for 8k. Who thinks that's legit? Who in their right mind looks at the market, understands the rough price is 20k and then says "wow, that's a bargain, I can save 12k"?
Stupid people, that's who. And we should let them, because only by getting ripped off will they learn and stop being stupid Too harsh? New project and it's green: www.projectoverland.info |
