So how do you feel about the 285 vs 255 AJC?
I think the 285s are perhaps just a tad too much, but that's my very subjective opinion as I just enjoy looking at your 110 with something more subtle on The 255s with the modulars' offset look better. One of my favourite 110s, maybe something to do with the colour MY15 Aintree 110 SW - for sale - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic82781.html MY16 Santorini 90 HT - sold |

Honestly it's all i think about
I bought the 285's second hand as a trial fit, i do think had i got 255's instead, then i'd be set on them and i wouldn't of fit the 285's. Whilst at my mates, i offered one of my 285's up against his 285 BFG KM2 MT and his have a less balooned side wall, so actually look a bit smaller. After spending countless hours googling and looking at 285's on 110's i do think they look well, but look better on a 7 inch rim and this makes the tyre look smaller as with it being a smaller rim, it's pulling it in. I need to remove the side steps now, i liked them on it when it had the boosts on and it was all pretty and clean, but now it looks too rough and ready i feel they're a bit out of place. Bu tin summary, i think i'll probably stick with 285's, but i would like to buy/borrow some 255's for a few days and see what i think first. And i think i'll be fitting to alloys as opposed to modulars, and the silver bits need to go black |

I know exactly where you are coming from AJC, nothing to be ashamed off. I'm in the same position and think there are few more on here I think if the 285s are mounted on alloys, they'll look a little less aggressive. They do look great and give a proper stance so don't let anyone to sway you away if you made up your mind Sounds like you are going for a black theme, so wider tyres with decent offset will looks spot on I'll miss the current look of your 110 though, she is a beauty! if i was keeping the boosts then the silver bits would be staying. All i be doing is roof rack and chequer plate. Just that i think they look a bit better all dark and a bit 'stealth' haha
But yeah with the black wheels the silver looks a bit out of place. I had a mountain of stuff to buy for it as soon as i got it and was all set for shelling out some money on it, but with me doing an extension at home, i've gone a bit OTT so i've been a bit reserved with the spends. |

That sounds like a good plan sir black roofrack, black chequers, black wheels - will look tasty indeed.
Probably good you haven't been able to throw loads of money at it. One gets a little overexcited with these when they are new on your driveway. And then when you live with it, you realise how many things you actually don't need from what you planned initially. I recall few things that I would even regret now if I have fitted them Anyway, look forward to see the finished product. Choosing wheels and tyres for mine became somewhat all consuming for me also.
Boosts +spacers or Mach 5, 265/75 or 285/75, MUDs or A/T. In the end I plumped for 285/75 cooper st maxx on Mach 5s. Unfortunately it didn't really end there , because I still see lovely clean defenders on standard boosts and think they look great, and wonder whether I should put them back on. I actually think I need 2 defenders. One standard and one modified! So don't think once you've made a decision, you won't change your mind a few months later. 2002 td5 90 county hardtop |

P.s i agree with the statement on having 2 defenders, i have suggested this to my wife and she's all game for a 90 as her daily driver but with 2 young children i don't think it'd be wise

This is the only photo I have on my phone.
I'd just put them on, and was at a pay and play day. The tyres fouled the arches so I put a 2" lift on. Click image to enlarge When the tyres wear out, I will probably keep the Mach 5s because they look great, but swap to 265/75 MUDs and drop it to standard height. Err I could change my mind before then though!☺️ 2002 td5 90 county hardtop |
