BIGFOG, yes i have made the EGR in the mapping to not open or be used, it still needs to be electriclly connected but is non functional now.
i have a few more tests to do on some standard cars to prove reliability of the process and it will be then available for the public. pete |

Hi Andy, Sorry I did not mean to cause any conflict or in any way say anything against Ian - I know him and a better bloke would be hard to find. His service/the way he works is not in question and again I am sorry if you thought thats what I was saying. Niether can I alter your vote, but as like many of the tuners out there offering re-maps someone is writing them and either the seller takes the credit or they tell you who is behind the re-map. In this case it is BAS as is the case with many others - I think this point will become clearer in time as some things are changing Gas, Grass Or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence. "TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you. |

Great news Pete, it's a topic that's been hotly debated in this forum as I'm sure you know, I hope your trials go well, if they do you'll be a popular man! Will it be a 'bolt on' to existing maps that you have done or does it work differently? Cheers |

Ive started a new thread to keep this one simple, but basicly the process is in the mapping/tuning of the car so will be available to anyone with my remap as an upgrade option.
We started this quite a while agao but for some reason i kept getting dragged away from the final stages of production with one thing and another. Now it is done and now a lot of Puma cars are out of warranty and are having EGR problems its about time we let it public. We have a lot of other things going on with the puma time depending ranging from big turbo conversions to cruise control as the factory could do it if they wished, even down to the newly available rear view camera option I wonder how long it will be before other companys offer the EGR shut option now i have made it publicly available http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic4681.html Pete |

your sentiments are in part why I wanted the re-map. I wanted the egr OUT to improve reliability. I personally don't see how chucking exhaust gases into the engine can ever make sense from a longevity perspective. to boot I now have something that is far more driveable than I've ever experienced (defender wise) and to boot approx. 30% more torque at low rpm. to my mind the smooth driving and reduced need to rev the engine all add to improved reliability of transmission. and improved economy. and for those that like bells n whistles - launch control. however probably like yourself it's adequate without it. |

What type of change have people experienced in MPG after a remap?

Have a 170 remap and to be honest, my MPG hasn't changed.

Camelman are you running a 2.2 a does it still have an operational egr as I wonder if most of the increased mpg is a result of a closed egr.
I'm not the only one to have seen this sort of improvement on the 2.4. |

Yep its a 2015MY 2.2 110 with a BAS 170 remap so the EGT still operational.
The mpg isn't any worse or better than before the remap and is typically 24mpg. Doesn't get driven particularly hard, sitting on dual carriageways and A-roads most of the time. |

I have an Alive map on mine done by CKS and I'm very happy with it but I have nothing to compare it with? I would've liked to have compared both the BAS & Alive maps before I made my decision but there's no way of doing that unless you have access to two vehicles with one of each map it's impossible?
Dose BAS do a map for RRS SDV6? 2010 Defender 90 HT The longer I live..... The better I was! |
