Sorry I can't resit this one...you live in the UK own a Land Rover and have a few "pings" and "clunks" - given all the other things you face like staying in or leaving the EU is this not a very minor irritation? More seriously the clunk is more likely the rear ball joint and or bushes .... that rattle is heat shields and they need some tweeking - confirm it is worse on certain road conditions when the vehicle is loaded? My dealership here in SA knows the problem well!

Might sound like a bit much for many, but if you're this way inclined it's not that hard to mount a camera down there, process of elimination ... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

OK so it went for all the fluids and filers changed this morning.
That's all sorted but although he replicated the sound he didn't have time to locate it (they shut half day) so need it back. Its basically seems 1st / 2nd 3rd up to around 40 Mph if you lift off the power or the car is under load (say going up hill) and use the power it Rattles like a heat shield but from the back. If you Knock it out of gear when its doing it, it seems to go better? Clutch biting point, revs etc the way it drives is all normal? Any ideas, The 'ping' at parking speeds is a UV joint and although play in it its OK? so up to me if I want them to change it? |

If you've got play in a UJ, keep a reasonable eye on it. Those things only get worse and never experienced it but from all accounts worst case failure can be quite 'uncomfortable'.
In my case my clunk is the rear half shaft/flange connections... You've removed the wheel and popped the caps to check? Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

OK so my truck has been in the garage, to have this looked at.
Also it was pulling to the left slightly so asked them to check that, then the service, New Engine oil Gearbox Oil Transfer Box Diff front and back Air filter oil filter Fuel filter Rang them today and the noise apparently cured, it was as some of you said the prop shaft rear UV joint ![]() and the brake pulling to left was seized caliper Hopefully when I get it back it should feel great again. The noise was very off putting and sounded like cans being dragged behind me ![]() |
