I've been looking at this, dynamt seems to be the best, but at a premium.
I had silent coat, in my last 90 and that worked really well, also at £207 for 140sheets (enough to do my usw) that's where my money is going. It's down to personal preference and budget I guess ![]() |

Hi Stacey007. I did not go for dynamat, but the Wright offroad and rubber matting in the rear of my CSW. The difference is superb and clean looking too. I am about 3/4s through the install, just have the finishing edging strips to do. I am looking for a hard wearing, easy cleaning, good looking solution and I think this is the solution.
The only bit I have yet to do is the under bonnet... I am still thinking on the best solution for this. |

Thanks
Quick look on ebay shows all manor of stuff now... and much cheaper, The top (finish) I will re use the carpet I have already. So just the sound proofing, something like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silent-Coat-2mm-...Swqu9VLm0D then a foam cover? such as this (maybe not 10mm could be too thick?) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-Sheets-10mm-C...Swv9hW59Mq Then my carpet fitted back on top? Is the head lining easy enough to remove and refit? Thanks |

I've had skinz professionally installed throughout our 110 XS SW, not cheap but very pleased. Under 40 mph it's 100% better, over 40 the wind noise does take over but it is still better. In the wet it is soooooo much better the noise from the wheel arches has gone. It sounds silly, but for me the reassuring thud closing the doors rather than the clatter is the best thing.
After my research I went for skinz as I heard from several people it's just as good as dynamat but cheaper. We've had everywhere covered so need some additional carpeting over the standard XS carpeted areas. |

Hello
What extra bits are done? what sort of price was it for someone else to do it? They way I look at it being a 7 seater I can do the back, remove the middle seats when ready so the kids can use the back until its all done. It should not be that hard removing bits of trim and cutting this stuff? Like you I do like the idea of the door shutting with a better clunk rather than sound like I've bent the panel when I shut it... I will get my Sankey project done and look into this, although another gadget arrived today that I would like to try to fit.... Always stuff to do ![]() |

^ I don't like paying out for anything I can try and do an its always satisfying if you have a go.
I'm really enjoying my sankey renovation and learning new things all the time. Stuff I have never done previously. Doubt the cost of doing this yourself would be too pricey especially if you don't use the 'branded' stuff what we looking I recon finger in the air price £300 / 400 ? I always seem to work on how many fill ups, so around 4 or 5 , does not sound too bad. I've searched a few old posts and suggestions are its worth doing. My time and effort is free, Its on my list ![]() |

Silent Coat is just as good as the more expensive stuff, http://www.deadening.co.uk/ is the guy that brings it in to the country, so should be the best prices there. I've got half a bulk pack in my load area, when I next have to take some interior out then there will be more going in.

Depends how much coverage you're going for really. I used most of a pack of sheets (20 I think?) just doing load area.

I think it is worth it.
I would not really enjoy long fast trips before sound proofing in my 2.4. Afterwards holidays all over the continent were fine, cruised a about 70-75 and could talk and here the radio as well. I used dynamat on my previous Defender, on my current one, a 2.2, I have just taken delivery of a very heavy load of silent coat 'stuff'. It will be interesting to hear the difference once fitted. ![]() Click image to enlarge |

have a look here. http://www.deadening.co.uk/products/landro...ing-bundle
I bought the 90 pack to start with plus a pack of Dodo Dead Mat Black for the exposed areas so it won't stand out all silver ![]() I found that you always need more in my opinion so i am treating the packs i bought as starter packs and see how we go from there |
