This all seems to be getting a bit silly.
I have always felt that it is the intensions behind the words not the words themselves that should be considered. While some of the comments around the two 50ths have clearly been intended to insult, some have just been a little insensitive and some... just general turns of phrase, of which you have to really want to be offended to take issue with. An object is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and what you are willing to sell it for... if its not for you then kindly, quietly, move on. |

Yes apparently from those in the know it's sadly correct there seems to only be around that amount left on the road. There will be some hidden away in storage and garages and others have written off after accidents. |

WTF-I used a well know phrase to show how much I would like to purchase this vehicle but cannot afford it. I am not the first to use this phrase. No offense was intended to any person with organ failure, or limb failure. If I have offended anyone please accept my apologies. Especially Clemmo I truly hope you recover soon. In fact Clemmo I have been treated for kidney problems throughout my life,it is not nice, my mother died in 1973, her kidneys failed during late pregnancy and my little sister died before she was born. So thanks, on this bank holiday, I have been made to feel like a piece of crap for using a phrase with no insults intended. I just really liked Albert's 50th. Cheers Simon I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you 1990 110 TD5 county, my first Land Rover - gone 2012 Discovery 4 XS SDV6 - gone 2014 Discovery 4 XS SDV6 - gone 2015 Evoque SD4 dynamic - Wife’s - gone 2015 Urban Truck 90 XS Santorini Black Hard Top - Reluctantly gone 2020 Discovery 5 Eiger Grey 3.0 SE - gone March 24 2021 Defender S D250 Santorini Black 110 HT - gone March 24 2023 Evoque P300e SE wife’s current vehicle |

Interesting, I had always assumed they would have been the sort of vehicles that were cherished second cars, even from new. Good luck with the sale of yours |

I thought that was quite an impressive number still around, if you presume a few probably went overseas, a few locked away pos not even on SORN, over two thirds still going seems good.
Clemmo, takes a big man to put his hands up, sorry to hear of your troubles my best wishes go out to you and yours. |

I think you guys are discussing different things. I have just bought a 50th having previously missed out on the one Albert is selling. I am getting it renovated so that it gets back into good shape and will use it for smiles and weekends (at about 15mpg can't do much more). Will be the pride and joy. I also have a Series 3 which is used for taking the kids places and they treat it like a skip. Puts a grimace on your face, but proper driving and never worry about scratches as you can't spot the new ones. Then have a Disco for me or the wife to actually get anywhere. I think a modern Defender can be a daily drive and your do it all car, your 50th more likely to be a great hobby (that probably ends up costing you no money as will get back what you pay). So good news everyone is right. Did ask the wife if I could buy Albert's too but she said no!
