When the Polish dealer first look at the damage he said whoever changed the filter and oil caused the damage. When I told him it was the dealer in the UK he said he would not comment any further, nor would he give me the written report that I had requested earlier. He then added that it was more than likely a component failure. John

MSE,
No2 is the winner in my opinion. After roughly ten days or so of discussions with the Polish, UK dealer and Land rover. I am certain that this is a claim against the UK dealer, when this is all sorted I can let you have some very interesting emails showing how much the dealer lied to me through the whole process.
This is the same dealer who in my previous topic "LEd lights" could not start the land rover and changed most electonic components, ecu, imobillser et which resulted in me cancelling my ferry 3 times for my return trip to Poland.
Anyway, back on track and no ranting (i promised myself not to rant) I am going to talk to the NFU on Monday and see what is covered under my insurance. I may need to try and sort out a secondhand engine as I will continue to push a claim for a new engine off the dealer.
A good point you have raised concerning Land Rover UK, I was thinking about their relationship with the dealer and how it works. I could then determine what the best approach should be.
All in all it is not good, I have owned a land rover for a total of about 4 weeks, 1st week in the dealers, now it's getting transported back to the UK with a possible scrap engine. Still it is not the Land Rovers fault it is the F**n bad luck of choosing a totally incompetent dealer. John

Good news!

Are all the costs being covered and has anyone admitted liability or has an edict been handed down from Land Rover? Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

[Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc]

Damaged part has been shipped back to Land Rover UK, no one has admitted liability. When the work is done I am returning to the UK as I have some more work to do on the land rover. I plan on calling in at the dealers to discuss my concerns relating to the whole experience. John

Cafeful when buying second hand Puma engines, there are a lot of the "rough running" ones knocking about that have been ripped out and replaced......Some almost brand new with very little miles on them.....

Hello,
I had the same misfortune there 15 days now!

Car under warranty, only a damage to the filter, but not because I stop the engine immediately.

not LR .. but as a service engineer working on numerous vans and commercials - yes i have seen this 3 or 4 times over a couple of years on Transits., inc one i serviced,. Filter changed, torqued up housing, quick run then checked for leaks [so know it wasnt leaking or cracked] ... and a week later engine seized on motorway because housing split!
