Yes, but the wrong people

My brother's car engine recently fell apart and due to costs he is going to have to wait a few months to save enough money to buy a car, insure, tax and put fuel into it- he has been working since 2003 without having to go on the dole at any point.

My missus' sister doesn't work, or her boyfriend doesn't either, she has 3 kids and drives around in a new Renault Megane and never has a problem paying for the fuel. (The missus still asks me 'Why don't you like my sister?' Rolling Eyes )

Thank god I am not moving back to UK for at least another 3 years!!!

We get utterly shafted on fuel tax - we take it.
We have the economy ruined by banks, bail them out, kill the entire UK economy then watch them continue and before - we take it
We get utterly shafted on energy prices - we take it.

Really? All the banks fault? Don't you think a large proportion of the blame should go to Tony/Gordon's 'Lets give everyone everything... for nothing' Labour goverment? I know I am. All these tax rises are to compensate for all that over the past years.

The government simply encouraged the banks. The banks were responsible for the downturn.

They lent money using dodgy financial models (and claimed they were too complex for mere mortals to understand - patronising muppets), the got in trouble, they were bailed out for multiple billions (a HUGE chunk of our GDP) and are now back to their old ways. Meanwhile the public sector is on it's knees and the private sector is struggling and many 1000s are losing their jobs.

Joe Public is now paying MORE for far LESS services and IMO we won't ever return to the same level for decades while our taxes will continue to rise.

Yes the government was foolish - they didn't save when it was booming, the gave banks a free reign, they made it "essential" for everyone to own a home, they didn't keep controls on inflation or interest rates BUT in the end, it was the banks that caused the 1930s depression and the banks that caused this mess - which will last far longer than the Great Depression.

But it has always been the same for centuries in the UK. Conservatives raise taxes and cut spending.... money rises.... people think 'I don't get anything for my taxes'.... Labour get voted in..... Every one live like kings for a few years...... realise the country are going down the pan...... Conservatives get voted in..... Taxes and go up and spending cut.... money rises..... people want more...... Labour get voted in.........and the cycle goes on.

If it was Maggie, she would have probably gone around all the bank manager personally, took all they had, then cut their heads off and as bpman puts it...,. she would then put their head in their FFRR and then drive it up their ar55se!!

'Great' Britain no more Sad
