D44 HD turrets
Does anyone have these?

Looks to me like an ideal solution to a rust trap and front shocker tightening and removal issues such as getting no lower grip to remove seized top nut and threading shock through spring when replacing a spring.

yep, got them.
the only thing i found was they were tight going down past the plastic inner wing apart from that no problems.
built to last i'd say

They certainly look meaty, when you say tight to the inner wing plastic I'm assuming you mean the area the opposite side of this photo where it gets close?
They mention on the site that they recommend (of course they do Laughing ) that D44 HD turret rings are used too.

I have heard on other sites on TDi's of the top mount on OE turrets to rust out and the top of the shocker punch it's way out through the top. Shocked

I can't imagine prices being too different to LR to be honest. LR turret rings are £30 plus and D44 £20 I'd say LR's turrets for a pair most likely £80 these are £96

They did mention that.
Seriously tempted, will stick wry what I've got for now inc using old rear shockers till I got all the bits I need then do the lot.
Main bonus is with these is getting the damper out easier as you can grip it with out having to remove the whole thing.

I've not used the D44 set but would definitely recommend the Gwyn Lewis version, lovely and easy to clean and they relocation cones built in too.

It appears they only do them in +2 however.

Ah, would have been interested but not +2.
I'm not looking for modded suspension really just thinking of future maintenance.
Not at the stage of making my mind up on having these or not yet.

I'm looking at some springs next so looking at OE genuine.

What I have now are standard height but yellows.
The PC has flaked a long time ago and I've kept them rust proofed.
Other than the PC issue they've been good springs but at 8yr old nearly they are getting weak and since one took a hit a few months ago I've been getting shocker issues.
I've narrowed it down to the spring as the coils knock together at the top when bounced.

Previous owner had them fitted and I don't know who they were either except they were Welsh and lived near the coast. (Good job I saved it! Laughing )

Update to this thread, I did buy the D44 turrets in the end.
Not fitted just yet but hoping to this week.

They are silver powder coated as standard.

I've acid etch primed them, then black stonechip today:

Probably Dinitrol after that too once fitted along with the rest of it.

I was going to paint them, but figured it'd be a pointless waste of money as they'll only get scratched and chipped and filthy under there anyway.
Can't go cleaning turrets every five minutes. Rolling with laughter

Mine are standing up to the elements and there aren't many scratches on them at all.
I don't clean them that often either Thumbs Up

Good to hear, well at least this way it's a bit of extra sound proffering from any stone chips and protects it too.
This stonechip is like a rubber coating. Thumbs Up
I'm just waiting on some seats, washers and fixings for the rest of the front sus from Dan before I can crack on.
I think it'll be tomorrow most likely.
