Recents Jobs, wipers and steering shaft
Finally managed to get round to fixing my windscreen wipers, the swept area was slowly decreasing so I knew something was up. I pulled back the dash and found that the wiper motor was wobbling around quite a lot so I check the clamp, which seemed ok. The motor still had lots of movement which didn't seem right, then I notice the rubber cover and thought I'd have a look to see what was what only to find the nut that holds the wiper pipe to the motor had come adrift. All tightened up and working perfectly.

Fitted a new lower steering shaft today and it's made quite a big improvement, the top UJ was stuffed. I'm sure 2mm at the UJ would be like 2cm at the wheel.

Front track rod a track rod end to fit next. Winter's here, thanks goodness!

Is yours a Puma? Do you have a part number for the steering shaft?

Hi Redline

I have a TD5

I got a Bearmach stearing shaft from a local LR parts store. Made a massive difference as the old one had heaps of play. Winter's here, thanks goodness!

Thanks Chamois! Just about to do the track-rod ends and steering shaft on my LHD, and trying to figure out if the parts are any different from the RHD ones...
