I've never used these guys before so cannot comment on quality etc or even if it is a genuine company, it is just what came up when I googled it:
http://www.4wheeln.co.uk/shop2/product.php?id_product=615 They do various options for the rear step, one of which is a 2" receiver. It doesn't mention which Defender it fits to but maybe worth a call |

Hmm, that my be worth a shot. I'll phone them up and see what they can tell me about it. I don't understand why they are so hard to find?! My 2" reciever on my discovery was brilliant, and very easy to get hold of |

That unfortunately doesn't have a 2" receiver, just a flat plate EDIT; I apologise! I didn't read it properly, I'll have to investigate further. Thanks |

Is the 2" Reciver type approved for Fenders and is the NAS Step 2" Reciver Type approved for the fender?? Unfortulantly having a new vehicle means you have very little get out room with the law!!

Yeah I won't actually be towing with it, I don't own a trailer and don't have a towing licence.
I'll look into all of those suggestions, thanks very much guys |
