Anyone been to the Stoneleigh "Great British Land Rover" show before? If so, what's it like?
http://greatbritishlrshow.com/ It looks from the website a bit similar to the Donnington 4x4 show from a couple of months back. Struggling to decide if I want to do the 200-mile round trip or not. |

It's a fairly recent show, first time at Stoneleigh, bit of a hard one to guage really. The shows oveer the past couple of years have lost their draw mainly I think due to the really crap weather we had a couple of years ago which saw shows and events all round the country being cancelled. There has been a bit of a reshuffle of shows with Malvern Show taking the place of Eastnor and Bristol and West Shows and it's going to be interesting to see what shows are going to draw the crowds this year. Whilst Peterborough allways seems to dominate, it does tug on the purse strings for both trader and public plus dealing with the organisers is enough to make you want to buy a Jeep!
As for the one this Sunday, only you can make the choice of whether you want to make the trip as it's personal choice if you like the show or not ![]() |

Pickles,
"Travellers" is a politically correct name for Gypsies, caravan dwellers, etc ![]() |

Pickles
they are people who live in caravans and travel around staying in car parks or parks or abandoned bits of land, they dont pay tax and earn their money doing tarmac drives, gardening or scrap metal in fact anything that pays cash or untraceable etc.Sometimes they break camp leaving a holy mess sometimes not, and sometimes crime increases in the area they turn up in, Im not tarring them all with the same brush just what I have seen from my personal experiences of travellers and also whats portrayed on the tv. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) 2015 Discovery 4.5 Black pack Firenze red XS 2008 Corris Grey 110 XS USW (sold) 2011 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) |

Their preferred vehicle for towing and business use is certainly not the Defender. By far their favourite vehicle is the Ford Transit, flatbed variant with factory fitted tow-pack - which accommodates just about all their business, social and domestic requirements. Travellers is a term that applies to more than a single community of people who choose to lead an 'alternative' lifestyle. They themselves have specific identities and go to great lengths to differentiate themselves. |

Well I did go in the end, there was a lot of Land Rover waving on the journey there
![]() The show itself didn't seem as big as the Donnington one, although the room was a little bigger which gave the exhibitors a bit more space. Finally succumbed to a set of Wipacs coloured LED lights for £90 which seemed a good deal. While I'm still not totally sold on their 'bauble look', there doesn't seem to be anything better on the market and my current factory rears have gone cloudy, and the fronts are full of condensation, so hopefully money well spent. |

I also had a wander over to the show. Didn't end up buying anything but came close on some of the raptor stuff and slickshift. I just couldn't bring myself to splash on out luxuries when I've still got a door to replace and some holes to patch up.
Spent just as much time in the car park too. First time I've seen a 101FC up close. ![]() Click image to enlarge |
