[Sold] Series IIA 88" 3.9 V8
Land Rover Series IIA 88” V8
1967 | F Registered | 3.9 Rover V8 | LWB Axles and Brakes (Salisbury rear) | Fairey Overdrive | Freewheeling Hubs | Power Steering | CD Radio | MOT’d until 11th Jan 2017
I've only owned this vehicle since early Februrary, but I have just bought another Series in the spec I've always wanted, so need to make room and cash.
The chassis and bulkhead are believed to be completely original, but have had repairs in the past to a good standard… the bulkhead is mildly modified to accept the V8 engine. The chassis is solid and has been undersealed in the past, but will require doing again soon but I have let it as it is to allow you to inspect the true condition.
The vehicle was rebuilt a few years ago, and has been reassembled using stainless steel fasteners, so things will come apart without fighting with rusted nuts! The paint has been sprayed, it is still in good condition but there are a few small areas where it has been chipped, and there is a section on the rear tub that has been brush painted to repair a long scratch.
It has recently had a full stainless steel exhaust system (2 1/4" bore - nice!) fitted at great expense from JP Exhausts, Macclesfield... It'll never need one again.
The interior is good; with vinyl ‘Deluxe’ front seats and rear bench seats for passengers. There is a portable audio system that hooks onto the rear bulkhead and plugs into the 12v socket, and there are some rubber mats in the front footwells. The floor pans are in durable chequer plate, including the rear.
It could do with going on a nice set of green steel wheels, but never got round to this, mainly because it drives so well on the current wheels with a tiny (for a Series!) turning circle due to the good offset, just filling the arches nicely.
Spec:
1967 model on original chassis. 1994 3.9l Rover V8 engine with Weber 38 DGAS carb, coupled to a standard 4spd manual transmission with desirable Fairey Overdrive. 3.54 Range Rover differentials, in late 109” axles for larger brakes (Salisbury rear axle). Parabolic springs all round. Brand new full stainless steel exhaust system from manifolds back. Kenlowe electric cooling fan. Electric Facet fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. 8 spoke steel wheels with 235/85/R16 all-terrain tyres. Power steering. Full removable canvas tilt. Deep Brunswick Green paint. Registered on 15/08/1967. Accompanying the vehicle is a history file documenting receipts and MoT certificates, and a full specification sheet with service parts listed making maintenance easy.
The vehicle has a long MoT until 11th January 2017.
The price is £5,800 to Def2 members.
Viewing and test drives welcome near Chester.
I can potentially arrange UK delivery by trailer depending on distance at extra cost.

Hi Sam,
Yes, she fires up first turn of the key, and drives superb! Very fast and entertaining, plus easy to drive about due to the PAS.Pete
