Catalane Pyrenees
This will be our first trip of the year.
Setting off either the first or second week in May 2016,I have Vibraction road book 4,so we will be following this route.
http://vibraction.pa...spagne/rb_4.htm
It's all in French, but you can get an idea of the route.
We are planning to do it in 5 to 6 days, with wild camping, camp sites & probably a hotel or 2 for SWMBO.
As we live in France,we will be heading south from where we are based, down the A75 so that we can do the Millau, something I have always wanted to see.
If anyone is interested in tagging along, for some of the route,or all of it,you would be more than welcome.
Marc.

About to do something similar in July. About to purchase the Road Book : Traverse too and maybe more. Be keen to know how you get on.

We have just got back from a 5 day trip.
We followed Vibraction RB 4.
http://vibraction.pagesperso-orange.fr/espagne/rb_4.htm
We have found going early in the season means the tracks are a bit more challenging.
We set off from Collioure on Friday 6/05/16.The first day we covered the route as far as Sadernes.Tracks were very dry & dusty and all the rivers were empty, obviously there had been no rain for weeks.Camped at the wonderful campsite at Sadernes.
Day 2 we had light rain on & off all day, following the route from Sadernes to Gosol.Prety much a repeat of day 1.Still good driving on predominantly tracks. Then on the last decent from a height of 1700m,there were a few snow drifts remaining, but nothing we couldn't drive over, then we made a right turn at about 1500m the track was completely blocked with hard packed snow.I spent 1 hour digging it out, broke my shovel, Sad But got us through.Camped at the campsite at Gosol.
Day 3,couldn't have been more diferent,it had rained all night,so the tracks were wet,but not muddy. We got to Llinars, the note in the roadbook says only follow this section if you have low ratio gears. The low box was certainly needed on very rocky climbs.
Then came the buttock clenching decent that had been washed out to over 1 m deep, bearing in mind we were on our own,so no back up. Surprised
After we got over the first couple of washouts,Mrs Sharkey suggested going back,it was then I told her there was no going back,we were committed to completing the decent. One particular wide & deep washout needed big rocks putting in the bottom to reduce the risk of tipping over.
Shocked
I will post some pics when I get a few minutes.
Have a great trip guys, can't wait for our next one.
Marc

I see you came across the same part of snow as we did. It took us 1.5h to cross with 2 defenders.
You shouldn't have needed to do much digging Smile

Hey Dan
When did you cross that drift?
I don't think anyone had crossed it before I did on the 6/5/16. Question

We made it across on the 5 May 2016 - at about 14:00 local time.
If it is the same one you should have seen all the results from our digging. Tyre tracks and all. Smile

We were 2 vehicles so it was a bit easier - got stuck a few times before we made it across.

Edit to mention as well. We were followed by a Toyota who didn't make it across but had to turn around! Rolling with laughter

Wow I'm amazed Dan. Shocked
There were no tracks,in fact the drift looked exactly as it does in your photo when we got to it.
