Driver side roof leak diagnosed. Advice to fix?
Hi there,

I have been dealing with a driver side water leak in my 1999 TD5 110.

After spending MANY hours resealing the gutter I have yet to solve it.

I finally removed the front of the headliner to see where it was coming in.

Take a look at the pics. Any advice on how to deal with this? Do I need to dig out the gutter and reapply sealant or is there an easier solution?

Thanks a lot.

I have been through that manual more than a dozen times. I have essentially done everything in it and actually stopped quit a few leaks but this is the last one that remains.

Is it essentially saying that I need to remove the entire door seam put in the putty and tape and then re-seal the door seam? 1999 Defender 110

From that last pic have you put sealant along the entire gutter length?

What material are you using? Sikaflex or Tigerseal? 2016 D4 HSE

It's Eurethane window sealant. If the silicone doesn't work I guess it's the next step! 1999 Defender 110

Check the seam that runs across the roof at the front before it slope last down to the windscreen. Mine was leaking in there and running down to the drivers side. I taped it up to check and it was dry in a couple of days. I then redid it with clear sealant when it has been dry for a few days

Haha!! Laughing

Sort of feels like that!

More rain on the pant leg then on the roof!

Removing the roof as part of Installing Puma middle row in August. Going to remove the headliner and reseal everything so that will be the end of it! (Hopefully...) 1999 Defender 110
