Welcome MCT96. I just run 750s on steels so no help from me on what tyres you want, but have a look at some of the pics on here and get an idea - there is a wheel and tyre topic full of pictures. Good luck with your new motor, enjoy.

Hi there, nice looking landy Many forum members would say that the first things to do are chassis protection and lots of security and then go from there 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

As above, for security, there are plenty of threads about it for you to make your own decision on, hope it helps 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Have to echo above comments... Also live with her a while to learn what needs doing. If it's your first Defender, they are quite unique! You might find you wish you spent your money elsewhere (e.g. Sound proofing, remap).
However, for the tyres, I think both 265 or 235 are fairly safe options. People will argue for both, 265 - better looking, more rubber on the road. 235 - quieter, more fuel economical. Personally in similar boat looking at new wheels and tyres, narrowed down to KO2 and erring towards 265 I think, maybe hmm not sure.... |

Thanks for the glowing report, I think you've just made my mind up!
Been speaking with a tyre supplier today who was slating the bfg in favour of Coopers!! Ashamed to say I just don't like the look of the Coopers. |

I had 265 coopers on my last one but went 235 on the new one. 265s look better and found them softer on the ground off road however 235 dig a little better and found them generally better on road (better lock etc.) I think sawtooth shave a bigger offset than boosts so may not be a issue but also 235's may look like 265's on boosts.
My vote is always 235 now |

Coopers have advantages...
http://expeditionportal.com/where-the-rubber-meets-the-road/ That does compare them to the old version but it's interesting reading. |

Very interesting. I changed to them from bfg as found the deadly in the wet on road so wanted a better wet road tyre (we do live in the uk after all) very pleased but would be interested in a new test

Hi Sphere!
Could you please clarify which tyres you found deadly in the wet? Im looking at the 265 BFG's to put on the boost alloys but since its always raining here they might not be the best option |

Narrower tyres will be better in the wet, snow, mud...
Wider tyres are better for high speed cornering, flotation... Why not have a look at your other thread on the subject where I go in to tedious detail http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic45685.html |

I've a set of new / take off Michelin Latitudes on steels work really well in the mud / wet / snow. I was really surprised at how well as I'd taken off a set of BFGs on Boost alloys. If anything the skinny tyres were better in the deep mud. I guess it depends whether you want a particular look or not - its amazing how different a set of wheels and boots make the same vehicle change appearance.
