I fitted a Mantec to my 110, MY14 Puma 2.2.
Noticed NO difference in performance, either up or down. It did however make the drive much quieter... especially when the drivers window was down as all the induction noise virtually goes away. I think this is because it is sucking air from above roof height! I quite agree about it being better looking... but then again the OEM Landrover version is perhaps even nicer! I am now fitting one of these to my 90! Hope this is helpful!!! YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

It's odd my experience is completely the reverse. It seems counter-intuitive that moving the intake closer to your ear can make the induction noise less obtrusive not more. On considering the various makes - I'd be asking if an intake is not waterproof is it really dust proof? |

Agree with YOLO,, Mantec fitted to all my past Defenders, including replacing a Safari with one
Current 110 ran without for the first 2000 miles odd, then fitted, no difference in performance or economy, and quieter Did a trip to Morocco, 2 x identical 110's , i checked mine ever 3/4 days, the 110 without had to clean out daily California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

Why is it quieter... When you are moving forwards, the sound of the intake in the normal position is carried back with the movement of air past you. Having the intake up high and also just in front of you now means the induction noise is also carried back behind your ears over the roof line... it is definitely quieter! As for being waterproof, I don't think any of them are with the existing intake arrangement and the 'push fit' induction pipes. The only way to get waterproof wading ability would be to install a sealed kit from the intake like the 'nugget stuff' pipe. I believe most makes of snorkel, including Mantec and Safari can be fitted to the inlet area of this kit. Personally, I much prefer the look of the Mantec or OEM snorkel... but that's obviously a matter of taste! YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

I run a genuine Land Rover plastic jobby same as the Mantec and think that it looks nice and subtle but also functional as a RAI . On a trip through Morocco and the Western Sahara I took spare air filters expecting problems with the dust , did its job really well and spare filter not used. The rest of the pipe work is all standard .
For me the more growling and whistling from the air box the better as I enjoy that sort of thing , sad I know ! |

looks like everyone is happy with their mantec jobbies! (apart from the heavy water complaints??) doesnt rain too heavily too often here in south africa, so shouldnt be a problem!
