2.2 Oil Filter Plastic Cup/Cover Removal - socket size
Had difficulty removing this filter cup today. Managed it eventually by tapping the cup with a hammer while applying pressure with 27mm socket.

Decided to buy the appropriate removal tool for future use, the one that applies pressure to the six faces of the "nut" rather than just the corners.

I have found tool DA1176 that is sold for the Puma 2.2 & 2.4 but that is a 36mm tool! Can anybody explain this for me?

I have found a 27mm tool on Ebay and ordered that so should be OK but just confused because several places sell the 36mm for the Puma 2.2 & 2.4.

Puma engine ones are all 27mm across the entire ford range. Any Ford engined vehicle with paper element is 27mm.
Other manufactrers have 30mm, 32mm even 36mm .. So I assume the seller has all and is getting confused.

Later TDCI's have reverted back to a metal canister filter Rolling Eyes Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Pretty sure the wheel nut size is 27mm,which is ALWAYS a 6 sided wrench/socket.
P.s don't buy a cheap socket as they easily split.
Failing that,an adjustable wrench,no?? Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Why not use the Wheel Nut spanner as supplied by LR? NormanD WE191

Tried using the wheel nut spanner/wrench on mine but it was on so tight it spun on the plastic nut. Anyway it is off now and I have the appropriate removal tool on order. This puts the pressure on the flats of the plastic nut.

It will also allow me to tighten to the recommended torque which you can't do with the wheel wrench.

First time I did mine I torqued it up to the value specified on the cup and it started to leak after a week, checked the workshop manual and according to it it needed an extra 10nm or so Vs what was stated on the cup (although don't have exact values to hand right now) just in case you weren't aware

That's interesting, thanks. I was aware that the filter cup says 25nM and the workshop manual says 35nM but that is the first time I've been made aware of anyone using the lower figure and having an issue.

I'll use the higher setting on mine.
